Overview

SN101 is a first-in-class induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell therapy being developed by SereNeuro Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic osteoarthritis joint pain. The active ingredient consists of mature iPSC-derived peripheral pain-sensing neurons (nociceptors). SN101 functions as a biological 'pain sponge' by sequestering inflammatory pain factors without transmitting pain signals to the brain, while also secreting regenerative factors that promote cartilage preservation and healthy bone remodeling. The therapy's biological target includes all canonical pain receptors and ion channels, allowing it to modulate multiple pain and inflammation pathways simultaneously. SN101 is positioned as a potential disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) and represents a non-opioid alternative to current treatments like corticosteroids. The company is currently in preclinical development and moving toward Investigational New Drug (IND) enabling studies.
