SN50 is a synthetic 41-residue cell-permeable peptide that functions as an inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) translocation. It consists of the hydrophobic region of the signal peptide from Kaposi fibroblast growth factor (K-FGF) attached to the nuclear localization sequence (NLS) of NF-κB p50. SN50 blocks NF-κB by competing with NF-κB complexes for the nuclear import machinery, thereby inhibiting the nuclear translocation of this transcription factor and suppressing downstream gene expression involved in inflammation, cell survival, and cancer. SN50 is primarily used as a research tool to explore NF-κB signaling in various disease contexts, including cancer and inflammatory diseases[1][2][3][8][9][11].
