SNAPvax is a fully synthetic and biocompatible self-assembling nanoparticle vaccine platform designed to co-deliver multiple antigens and immunomodulators—specifically, tumor or disease-specific peptide antigens together with a Toll-like receptor 7/8 (TLR-7/8) agonist adjuvant—in nanoparticles of precise, programmable size and composition. The technology enables robust priming and expansion of antigen-specific cytotoxic T cells for cancer immunotherapy as well as regulatory T cell (Treg) induction for autoimmune diseases. In preclinical models, intravenous administration of SNAPvax induces systemic type I interferon responses that remodel the tumor microenvironment by reducing immunosuppressive monocytes/macrophages and enhancing T cell-mediated tumor regression. The platform is being developed primarily by Vaccitech in collaboration with the NIH Vaccine Research Center; it has also been in-licensed by Scancell Holdings for use in their Modi-2 cancer vaccine program. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy in cancer models (including HPV-associated cancers) and autoimmune disease models such as multiple sclerosis[1][2][3][5][6][9].
