Overview

SNC-102 is a novel, sustained-release oral formulation of acamprosate calcium developed by Synchroneuron. Acamprosate calcium is an FDA-approved drug for alcohol dependence, but SNC-102 was designed to improve its pharmacokinetic properties for new indications. The primary mechanism involves modulation of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system, aiming to address movement disorders and neuropsychiatric conditions such as tardive dyskinesia (TD), Tourette syndrome, and combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder (cPTSD). Clinical trials have evaluated its efficacy in these areas; however, several studies were withdrawn or discontinued before completion[2][4][5][7][9].
