SND-581

SND-581 is a microbiome-derived protein therapeutic candidate discovered through the proprietary Microbiome Discovery Platform of Second Genome. It was primarily developed for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). The program was a key asset in a major strategic collaboration between Second Genome and Gilead Sciences, established in 2020, which focused on identifying novel targets and drug candidates derived from the human microbiome to address unmet needs in inflammation and liver disease. SND-581 is designed to modulate host-microbiome interactions to reduce mucosal inflammation and fibrotic progression. Following the closure of Second Genome in early 2023, the development of SND-581 has been terminated or remains inactive.
