Sniffing fasting plasma is an experimental biological intervention investigated by Seoul National University Hospital for its potential role in appetite regulation. The procedure involves the application of a band-aid soaked with 100μl of a subject's own fasting plasma just below the nostrils to allow for the inhalation of chemosignals. This approach is based on the hypothesis that human plasma contains metabolic and hormonal signals that can act as chemosignals to modify basic instincts such as appetite and food intake, similar to the observed effects of emotional tears on sexual responses.
