Overview

SNIPR-IV is an investigational anti-microbial drug being developed by SNIPR Biome ApS for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (uUTI) and sepsis, particularly those caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) *E. coli*. [2, 3] The drug is an intravenous formulation that utilizes a combination of bacteriophage (phage) delivery and CRISPR-Cas gene-editing technology. [3, 8] This platform, which the company refers to as CRISPR-armed phage therapy, works by using phages to deliver a CRISPR-Cas system into the target bacteria. [4] Once inside, the system is designed to recognize and cut specific DNA sequences within the bacteria, leading to a targeted killing effect while sparing other microbes. [7, 8] SNIPR-IV is part of the company's pipeline of precision medicines aimed at combating antimicrobial resistance and has reached the Investigational New Drug (IND) application stage. [1, 3]
