Overview
SNIPR-Lung is a preclinical, CRISPR-based precision antimicrobial therapy under development by SNIPR Biome. [1] It is engineered to selectively target and eliminate Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacterium that causes chronic lung infections. The intended patient populations are individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) and bronchiectasis. [1] The therapy utilizes CRISPR technology to specifically recognize and cut the DNA of the target bacteria, leading to their destruction while aiming to preserve the beneficial bacteria in the microbiome. [2]
