Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SNIPR001-Oral** is an investigational orally administered CRISPR-based precision antimicrobial from SNIPR Biome. It is a defined cocktail of four engineered CRISPR-Cas-armed bacteriophages that deliver CRISPR-guided vectors into susceptible *Escherichia coli* in the gastrointestinal tract, where CRISPR-Cas-mediated cleavage of programmed bacterial DNA sequences selectively kills the target bacteria while aiming to spare the broader commensal microbiome. The program is being developed to reduce gut colonization by fluoroquinolone-resistant *E. coli* and thereby prevent potentially life-threatening *E. coli* bloodstream infections in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation. SNIPR001-Oral is listed in SNIPR Biome's pipeline for blood infections in hematologic cancers, and the oral SNIPR001 clinical program is in a Phase 1b/2a study.
