Overview

SNJ101 (Thrombase) is a recombinant HtrA1 (High-Temperature Requirement A1) serine protease being developed by SNJ Medical as a first-in-class, plasmin-independent thrombolytic agent. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD), Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS), and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), including pulmonary embolism. Unlike traditional thrombolytic agents such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), which rely on the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, SNJ101 directly degrades fibrin polymers within a clot. This unique mechanism is intended to provide effective thrombolysis while minimizing systemic bleeding risks, as it does not activate systemic plasminogen or degrade fibrinogen and fibronectin. The drug has completed animal studies, has been selected for the NINDS Small Business Program, and is eligible for FDA Expedited Programs.
