Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SNK-2726 is a long-acting small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by SynerK PharmaTech in collaboration with Huadong Medicine for the treatment of hypertension. It is designed to target and silence the messenger RNA (mRNA) of angiotensinogen (AGT) in the liver. AGT is the sole precursor of all angiotensin peptides in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which plays a central role in blood pressure regulation. By potently inhibiting the synthesis of AGT, SNK-2726 prevents the activation of the RAAS, leading to a stable and continuous decrease in blood pressure. The drug is administered via subcutaneous injection and is currently in Phase I clinical development.
