SNK-325 is a preclinical-stage affinity-based sustained-release hydrogel formulation developed by Synakis for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases. The platform utilizes a specialized hydrogel matrix that incorporates affinity ligands to bind and slowly release therapeutic biologics, such as anti-VEGF agents, following intravitreal injection. By controlling the release of the active biologic through specific molecular interactions rather than simple diffusion, SNK-325 aims to significantly extend the interval between treatments, thereby reducing the burden of frequent eye injections for patients with conditions like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME).
