SNO7 is a novel organotin compound containing bromide, currently under investigation for its cytotoxic properties against various malignancies. Developed by researchers at the University of Iceland, SNO7 is part of a broader effort to identify metal-containing therapeutic agents that can overcome the limitations of traditional platinum-based chemotherapies, such as cisplatin. In preclinical screenings, SNO7 has demonstrated the ability to induce apoptosis in breast, lung, ovarian, and pancreatic cancer cell lines. Notably, it has shown potency in cell lines that may be resistant to conventional treatments, suggesting a distinct or optimized mechanism of action compared to existing metallodrugs.
