SNO8 is a novel organotin chloride compound developed by researchers at the University of Iceland. It is being investigated for its cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines, including breast (T47-D), lung (A549), ovarian (OVCAR-3), and pancreatic (Aspc-1) cancers. In preclinical studies, SNO8 demonstrated the ability to induce apoptosis, with IC50 values comparable to or more potent than cisplatin in certain cell lines. The compound is part of a research effort to identify metal-containing alternatives to platinum-based therapies that may overcome resistance mechanisms.
