SNP-612 is a small molecule drug developed by Sinew Pharma for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and other digestive system disorders. It is an active metabolite of SNP-630, a synthetic compound with multiple mechanisms of action targeting liver injury associated with NASH. Preclinical studies and a phase 2a clinical trial demonstrated that SNP-612 ameliorates hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis in both animal models and human patients. The drug was evaluated for its effects on serum aminotransferase (ALT) levels as well as markers of liver inflammation and fibrosis over 12 weeks in NASH patients. Despite promising safety and tolerability data, development has been discontinued after reaching phase 2 trials[1][3][8].
