Overview

SNP203 is a preclinical-stage anti-SORT1 antibody developed by SciNeuro Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to restore extracellular levels of Progranulin (PGRN), a secreted glycoprotein growth factor crucial for lysosomal function, neuronal health, survival, and inflammation. Loss-of-function mutations in the GRN gene, which encodes PGRN, are linked to frontotemporal dementia (GRN-FTD) and Alzheimer's disease. SNP203 acts by blocking the interaction between PGRN and its cell surface receptor, Sortilin 1 (SORT1), thereby reducing PGRN endocytic clearance and increasing its extracellular concentration. SciNeuro Pharmaceuticals aims for SNP203 to be a best-in-class therapeutic with superior potency, improved pharmacokinetics, lower dosing requirements, and a patient-friendly delivery method, potentially leveraging the company's proprietary blood-brain barrier (BBB) shuttle platform for enhanced central nervous system (CNS) delivery. It is being developed as a potential treatment for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's disease, by addressing immune dysfunction.
