SNP318 is a novel, potent, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2), specifically optimized for central nervous system (CNS) penetration. It is being developed by SciNeuro Pharmaceuticals as a disease-modifying therapy for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. SNP318 acts by dampening vascular inflammation—a common pathological feature in multiple neurodegenerative disorders—by inhibiting Lp-PLA2 activity both peripherally and within the CNS. The drug has demonstrated strong target engagement, excellent cerebrospinal fluid distribution, and favorable safety/tolerability in Phase 1 clinical trials. Unlike anti-amyloid strategies, SNP318 targets neurovascular deficits that are prevalent in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias[1][2][5][7].
