Overview

SNVG-33 (also known as XNW3009) is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the urate transporter 1 (URAT1), also known as SLC22A12. Developed by Sinovent (Suzhou Sinovent Pharmaceuticals), the compound is designed to treat hyperuricemia and gout by blocking the reabsorption of uric acid in the renal proximal tubules, thereby enhancing its urinary excretion. URAT1 is a key transporter responsible for maintaining serum uric acid levels, and its inhibition is a validated therapeutic strategy for lowering urate levels in patients with gout. SNVG-33 has demonstrated significant urate-lowering activity in preclinical models and early-phase clinical trials, showing a favorable safety profile compared to older uricosuric agents. It is typically administered as an oral tablet and is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to determine its efficacy and safety in patients with chronic gout and hyperuricemia.
