Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SOBERANA 02 (FINLAY-FR-2) is a COVID-19 conjugate vaccine developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV) in collaboration with the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM). The vaccine utilizes a recombinant SARS-CoV-2 Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) protein, produced in CHO cells, which is chemically conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein and adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide gel. This conjugate technology, traditionally used in bacterial vaccines, is designed to enhance the immune response by recruiting T-cell help for B-cells, thereby improving the production of high-affinity neutralizing antibodies and immunological memory. It is typically administered as a two-dose primary series, often followed by a third heterologous dose of SOBERANA Plus. The vaccine has received emergency use authorization in Cuba, Iran, Venezuela, and several other countries for both adult and pediatric use.
