SOBI002

SOBI002 is a small biologic protein developed by Swedish Orphan Biovitrum (Sobi) as a potent and selective inhibitor of complement protein C5. It is based on the Affibody platform, which allows for a small size, high solubility, and stability. The drug was designed to target complement-driven diseases by inhibiting C5—a key component in human immunological and inflammatory processes—making it relevant for autoimmune disorders and inflammation. Clinical development included phase I trials with both intravenous and subcutaneous administration in healthy volunteers; however, the program was discontinued at the phase I stage[1][3][9].
