SOC-Northwell Health-COVID-19

SOC-Northwell Health-COVID-19 refers to a Phase 3 clinical trial intervention developed by Northwell Health and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research for the treatment of hospitalized adults with moderate to severe COVID-19. The intervention involves the administration of high-dose intravenous famotidine in addition to the prevailing standard of care (SOC). Famotidine is a small molecule histamine-2 (H2) receptor antagonist traditionally used to reduce gastric acid production. In the context of COVID-19, it is being investigated for its potential to modulate the overactivated inflammatory response (cytokine storm) by blocking H2 receptors and potentially interfering with pro-inflammatory signaling pathways.
