Soclenicant (BNC210) is a small molecule drug under development for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), agitation, and depressive disorders. It acts as a selective negative allosteric modulator of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR), inhibiting receptor activity without affecting other members of the cys-loop ligand-gated ion channel family. BNC210 has demonstrated anxiolytic effects in preclinical models and has shown statistically significant improvement in PTSD symptom severity in phase 2b clinical trials.
