Overview

Soclenicant (BNC210) is a small molecule drug under development for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), agitation, and depressive disorders. It acts as a selective negative allosteric modulator of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR), inhibiting receptor activity without affecting other members of the cys-loop ligand-gated ion channel family. BNC210 has demonstrated anxiolytic effects in preclinical models and has shown statistically significant improvement in PTSD symptom severity in phase 2b clinical trials. The drug is orally administered and exhibits a favorable safety profile with minimal sedation or cognitive impairment compared to traditional anxiolytics such as benzodiazepines. Developed by Bionomics Limited, it has received FDA Fast Track designation for both PTSD and social anxiety disorder[1][4][5][6][7][8].
