Overview

Phosphate Sandoz is an oral mineral supplement containing sodium acid phosphate anhydrous as its active ingredient. It is primarily used to treat hypercalcaemia associated with conditions such as hyperparathyroidism and malignancy, as well as hypophosphataemia linked to vitamin D-resistant rickets and vitamin D-resistant hypophosphataemic osteomalacia. By replenishing systemic phosphate levels, the drug helps restore calcium-phosphate homeostasis and can modulate the circadian rhythm of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and bone turnover markers. It is formulated as an effervescent tablet that is dissolved in water before oral administration. In clinical research, it has been evaluated for its effects on bone metabolism in postmenopausal women with reduced bone mineral density.
