Sodium aurotiosulfate, also known as sanocrysin, is an inorganic coordination complex with the formula Na₃[Au(S₂O₃)₂]·2H₂O. It is the trisodium salt of a gold(I) thiosulfate complex and appears as a colorless dihydrate. Historically, it has been used for its medicinal properties, particularly in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions where gold compounds are indicated. The compound is administered via intramuscular injection. Its mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but relates to its classification among organogold compounds; these are thought to exert anti-inflammatory effects possibly through modulation of immune responses or inhibition of lysosomal enzymes[7][2]. Sodium aurotiosulfate has also been investigated for potential use in hydrometallurgy.
