Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sodium bicarbonate + LY2140023 (pomaglumetad methionil) is an investigational drug combination that was evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT01440478) to study the impact of urinary pH modulation on the pharmacokinetics of LY2140023 and its active metabolite, LY404039. LY2140023 is an oral methionine prodrug of LY404039, a highly selective orthosteric agonist of metabotropic glutamate receptors 2 and 3 (mGluR2/3), which was originally developed by Eli Lilly and Company and later licensed by Denovo Biopharma for the treatment of schizophrenia. In this drug-drug interaction study, sodium bicarbonate was co-administered as a systemic and urinary alkalinizing agent to assess how elevated urinary pH affects the absorption, metabolism, and renal clearance of a single 80 mg oral dose of LY2140023 in healthy volunteers.
