Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NaCl 7.5% (Hypertonic Saline Solution) is an intravenous small-molecule/inorganic salt solution developed by the University of Sao Paulo. It consists of sodium chloride at a 7.5% concentration and is designed to act as an osmotic regulator. By raising plasma osmolality, it promotes fluid shifts from the intracellular to the extracellular compartment, thereby enhancing diuresis and improving hemodynamics. The drug has been evaluated in a completed Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT00555685) in combination with diuretics to prevent renal dysfunction in patients hospitalized with decompensated heart failure, and is also studied for the correction of hyponatremia.
