Overview

Sodium chlorosum (DAC N-055) is a pro-oxidative pharmaceutical preparation containing sodium chlorite (NaClO2) at concentrations typically ranging from 0.045% to 0.09%. It is enriched with oxygen, notably containing Na2Cl2O6 (formerly known as tetradecachlorooxygen or TCDO). Under acidic conditions, in the presence of specific catalysts (heme, manganese-porphyrins), or after UVA exposure, DAC N-055 releases strong microbicidal oxidants like ClO2 and singlet oxygen. It has shown anti-infective, immunomodulatory, and tissue repair-promoting effects. Historically monographed in the German Drug Codex (1989-2014), DAC N-055 has been used in clinical applications for treating cutaneous leishmaniasis and promoting wound healing.
