Overview

Compound Sodium Cholate and Aminophylline Tablets is an oral combination drug product containing sodium cholate, a bile salt, and aminophylline, a methylxanthine bronchodilator. Aminophylline is a 2:1 complex of theophylline and ethylenediamine that acts as a non-selective phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor and adenosine receptor antagonist, resulting in bronchodilation and anti-inflammatory effects. Sodium cholate is included as a bile acid component that may serve as a mucolytic or absorption-enhancing agent. This combination is used in the Chinese clinical setting for respiratory conditions such as bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis, and it is currently being investigated in a Phase 4 clinical trial for the treatment of mild to moderate acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).
