Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cystoplus is an over-the-counter urinary alkalizing agent containing sodium citrate as its active ingredient. Developed and marketed by Norwell Consumer Healthcare (an affiliate of Pharmascience), it is indicated for the symptomatic relief of burning pain and stinging associated with cystitis (urinary bladder inflammation) in adult women. Sodium citrate works by raising the pH of urine, making it less acidic and thereby reducing the discomfort of dysuria during urination. Cystoplus is typically supplied as cranberry-flavored powder sachets to be dissolved in water and taken orally over a 48-hour course.
