Overview

This is a combination of three inorganic compounds—sodium fluoride, potassium oxalate, and strontium chloride—used primarily in dental care products for the management of dentin hypersensitivity. Each component acts via a distinct mechanism: - Sodium fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and increases resistance to acid attack by promoting remineralization. - Potassium oxalate occludes dentinal tubules, reducing fluid movement within the tubules that can trigger nerve pain. - Strontium chloride also occludes dentinal tubules and may reduce nerve excitability, though it is generally considered less effective than potassium-based agents. The combination aims to provide both immediate and long-term relief from tooth sensitivity by blocking pain transmission (potassium), physically sealing exposed dentin (oxalate/strontium), and enhancing enamel strength (fluoride). These ingredients are commonly found in desensitizing toothpaste or topical dental treatments for patients with sensitive teeth[4][5][8].
