Sodium glycididazole is a nitroimidazole-class small molecule used as a radiosensitizer in cancer radiotherapy. It enhances the sensitivity of hypoxic tumor cells to radiation by fixing DNA damage caused by irradiation and inhibiting DNA repair, thereby increasing the efficacy of radiotherapy in solid tumors such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, head and neck tumors, and lung cancer. Sodium glycididazole itself does not have direct anticancer activity when used alone; its effect is specifically to potentiate the cytotoxic effects of radiation on tumor cells[1][2][4][5][7][9].
