Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hymelon is an ophthalmic formulation of sodium hyaluronate (0.18% w/v) developed and marketed by Ordain Health Care (a subsidiary of Exeltis). Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan with high viscoelastic and water-retaining properties. Administered as eye drops, Hymelon acts as an artificial tear to lubricate, moisten, and protect the ocular surface. It is primarily indicated for the relief of dryness, soreness, irritation, and discomfort associated with dry eye syndrome, as well as for promoting corneal healing after minor eye injuries such as corneal abrasions.
