Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Giatron (sodium hyaluronate) is an intra-articular viscoelastic supplement developed by SPEY for the symptomatic treatment of degenerative joint diseases, such as osteoarthritis, and for use in traumatology. It consists of a sterile solution of sodium hyaluronate (30 mg per 2 ml pre-filled syringe) that acts as a lubricant and mechanical support, substituting or supplementing the synovial fluid in human joints. By restoring the viscoelastic properties of the joint fluid, Giatron cushions the joint, absorbs mechanical stress, reduces friction, and alleviates pain in patients for whom non-pharmacological or simple analgesic treatments are ineffective.
