Sodium hyaluronate anti-adhesion barrier gel is a biodegradable, viscoelastic hydrogel designed to prevent the formation of intrauterine adhesions (IUA) following operative hysteroscopy. In clinical studies conducted by Nadezhda Women's Health Hospital, this specific formulation—containing 10 mg/ml of sodium hyaluronate in a phosphate-buffered saline solution—is applied intrauterinely to act as a physical barrier. By separating the traumatized mucosal surfaces of the uterine cavity during the critical 3-to-5-day post-operative healing window, the gel prevents the formation of fibrin bridges that lead to permanent synechiae. This treatment is primarily indicated for patients undergoing hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, myomectomy, or other intrauterine surgeries to preserve fertility and reduce the recurrence of Asherman's syndrome.
