Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is an anionic surfactant and detergent widely used in clinical research as a positive control for skin irritation. In studies sponsored by SerenaGroup, Inc., such as the Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT) for the SILURCLOUD Fibrous Collagen Matrix, SLS is utilized to induce a predictable inflammatory response in healthy volunteers.
