A combination oral care formulation used primarily for the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity and the prevention of dental caries. The formulation typically utilizes Pro-Argin technology, which consists of 8% arginine and calcium carbonate, alongside sodium monofluorophosphate as a fluoride source. Arginine, an amino acid, works synergistically with calcium carbonate to form a protective layer that binds to the dentin surface and occludes open dentinal tubules, thereby blocking the hydrodynamic flow that triggers sensitivity pain. Simultaneously, sodium monofluorophosphate provides fluoride ions that integrate into the tooth enamel to form fluorapatite, enhancing resistance to acid-induced demineralization and promoting remineralization of early carious lesions. The combination also supports a healthy oral microbiome by serving as a substrate for arginolytic bacteria, which produce ammonia to neutralize plaque acids.
