Sodium nucleinate is a small molecule, chemically identified as 2-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrophthalazine-1,4-dione sodium salt dihydrate, and is a derivative of luminol. It is registered in the Russian Federation as Tamerit. The drug exhibits immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the oxidative burst in human monocytes and polymorphonuclear cells, and suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma, and IL-6. It also stimulates T-cellular immunity, enhances specific immunity, restores phagocytic function, and possesses membranoprotective properties, along with the ability to enhance intracellular metabolism. It has been investigated for various conditions, including metastatic colorectal cancer, diabetic retinopathy, and infectious diseases.
