Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sodium pentoborate (also known as sodium pentaborate pentahydrate) is a boron-containing small molecule drug being developed for various therapeutic indications, including Alzheimer's disease, postmenopausal osteoporosis, obesity, and wound healing (such as radiation dermatitis, hemorrhoids, and diabetic foot ulcers). It exhibits multi-target activity, modulating inflammatory pathways, oxidative stress, cell cycle dynamics, and tissue remodeling. Preclinically, it has also shown protective effects against amikacin-induced nephropathy by reducing oxidative damage. Sodium pentoborate is formulated as an oral therapeutic agent for metabolic and neurodegenerative conditions, and as a topical hydrogel (such as Dermobor) for wound care and perianal diseases.
