sodium perborate

Sodium peroxyborate, commonly known as sodium perborate, is an inorganic oxidizing antiseptic used primarily in oral hygiene. When dissolved in water, it releases hydrogen peroxide, which provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by oxidizing bacterial cell components and disrupting oral bacterial biofilms (dental plaque). It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis and the maintenance of general oral health. The compound has been extensively studied by the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA) as part of long-term preventive strategies for oral health. It was historically marketed under the brand name Bocasan by Oral-B Laboratories.
