Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LLN is an oral sulfate solution (OSS) developed by Shandong Chengchuang Pharmaceutical Technology Development for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. It is a combination of sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate. As an osmotic laxative, it works by drawing and retaining water in the intestinal lumen, thereby increasing intraluminal pressure and stimulating peristalsis to clear the bowel. In clinical trials, LLN oral solution has been evaluated for its efficacy and safety compared to standard polyethylene glycol (PEG) electrolyte solutions, often demonstrating non-inferiority in bowel cleansing quality with a potentially lower volume requirement. It was approved by the NMPA in China in 2021 for bowel cleansing in adults.
