Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sojadodamgangki-tang (also known as SDG or SDGT) is a traditional Korean herbal medicine consisting of 12 medicinal herbs, including *Pinellia ternata* (Thunb.) Makino and *Perilla frutescens* (L.) Britt. It has been traditionally used in East Asia to treat asthma, cough, sputum, dyspnea, and mucus secretion in the lungs and bronchi. Mechanistically, Sojadodamgangki-tang attenuates allergic airway inflammation by inhibiting T helper 2 (Th2) cell activation and promoting the activation of alveolar macrophages, which leads to immune tolerance. It also reduces the infiltration of inflammatory cells (particularly eosinophils), decreases the production of ovalbumin-specific and total immunoglobulin E (IgE), and suppresses the release of alarmin cytokines from bronchial epithelial cells.
