SOL-116

SOL-116 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Lipum that targets bile salt-stimulated lipase (BSSL), a protein implicated in the maintenance of chronic inflammation. By binding to and inhibiting BSSL, SOL-116 blocks its role in stimulating the migration of monocytes and granulocytes involved in inflammatory processes. Preclinical studies demonstrated that animals lacking BSSL or treated with anti-BSSL antibodies are protected from developing arthritis or experience reduced severity of colitis. In clinical trials, SOL-116 has shown favorable safety and pharmacokinetic profiles with confirmed target engagement—reducing circulating levels of BSSL—in both healthy volunteers and patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The drug is being developed primarily for rheumatoid arthritis but may have potential applications in other autoimmune or chronic inflammatory diseases[1][2][5][8].
