Solacid

Solacid is a marketed fixed-dose combination antacid and anti-flatulent medication developed and manufactured by Dey's Medical Stores. It contains dried aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia), magnesium trisilicate, and simethicone. The antacid components (aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium trisilicate) work locally in the stomach to neutralize excess gastric acid, thereby raising stomach pH and relieving symptoms of hyperacidity, heartburn, and indigestion. Simethicone acts as a surfactant that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their coalescence and expulsion to relieve bloating and flatulence. Solacid is available in oral tablet and liquid suspension formulations.
