Overview

**Solco-Urovac** is a multivalent inactivated whole-cell bacterial vaccine developed for prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections, particularly in women. The vaginal formulation used in University of Wisconsin phase 2 studies contained heat-killed organisms from 10 human uropathogenic strains: six *Escherichia coli* strains plus one strain each of *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Proteus mirabilis*, *Morganella morganii*, and *Enterococcus faecalis*. Administered as a vaginal suppository, it is intended to induce local and systemic mucosal immune responses against common uropathogens and thereby reduce recurrent infection.
