Overview

Solcogyn is a topical chemical solution used for the local treatment of cervical ectopy and low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). It is a caustic agent composed of a combination of acids, including nitric acid, acetic acid, and oxalic acid, along with zinc nitrate. The preparation is applied directly to the cervix ("paint-on") to chemically ablate abnormal tissue. It has been evaluated in clinical trials, including an open-label placebo-controlled trial sponsored by the UK Department of Health, and has been compared to cryotherapy for cervical ectopia. It is considered a niche or investigational product in Western markets.
