Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Solidago virga-aurea extract is a botanical extract derived from the flowering aerial parts of *Solidago virgaurea* (European goldenrod or woundwort), a perennial herb belonging to the Asteraceae family. Traditionally utilized for its diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties, the extract has been investigated for its potential therapeutic applications in oncology, metabolic disorders, and dermatology. In preclinical studies, the extract has demonstrated the ability to induce apoptosis in breast cancer cells by upregulating the pro-apoptotic protein Bim via a FOXO3a-mediated pathway. Additionally, it has shown anti-adipogenic and anti-obesity effects in animal models, as well as antimicrobial activity against pathogens such as *Candida albicans*.
