Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Solovax is an autologous T-cell vaccine developed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). The therapeutic approach involves collecting myelin-reactive T-cells from a patient's peripheral blood, expanding them in vitro, and then attenuating them via irradiation. When reintroduced into the patient, these inactivated T-cells are intended to trigger an immune response against the patient's own pathogenic, myelin-reactive T-cells, thereby reducing the autoimmune attack on the central nervous system. The drug was developed by Pipex Therapeutics (which became Adeona Pharmaceuticals), but development appears to have ceased after 2008.
