Overview

Solriamfetol is a wakefulness-promoting agent indicated for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness in adults with narcolepsy or obstructive sleep apnea. It is a phenylalanine derivative and acts primarily as a selective dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (DNRI), increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters in the brain to promote wakefulness. Solriamfetol does not significantly affect serotonin reuptake and has minimal affinity for other neurotransmitter receptors. The drug is taken orally, has high bioavailability, and is minimally metabolized, being excreted mostly unchanged in urine. It was developed by Jazz Pharmaceuticals.
