Overview

Soluble interleukin-15 (sIL15) is a cytokine that exists in two forms: as a monomer or as a heterodimeric complex in association with sIL-15Rα (sIL-15/IL-15Rα). It has been engineered into NK cells (called sIL15_TRACK NK cells) derived from umbilical cord blood to create a therapeutic approach for solid tumors. The soluble complex sIL-15/IL-15Rα displays more extended half-life and greater bioavailability compared to monomeric sIL-15 and interacts primarily with cells expressing the intermediate affinity IL-2Rβ/γc receptor. In cancer treatment, sIL15 enhances antitumor activity of effector cells.
