Soluble Tie2 receptor (often referred to as sTie2, sTie2-Fc, or ExTek) is a recombinant soluble decoy receptor consisting of the extracellular domain of the Tie2 (TEK) receptor tyrosine kinase, typically fused to an Fc domain or a histidine tag. It acts as a trap or decoy for the Tie2 ligands, Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) and Angiopoietin-2 (Ang2), thereby preventing them from binding to and activating endogenous cell-surface Tie2 receptors. Soluble Tie2 receptor is widely used as a research reagent and preclinical therapeutic candidate to study and inhibit pathological angiogenesis, tumor growth, metastasis, osteoclastogenesis, and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.
